computer problem - help!!!

I have this annoying problem with my computer recently. When i turn it on, everything is running, power light is on, and the fans also run too. BUT, i get no input on my screen.

Also, sometimes it will power on and the screen will turn on, boots up vista fine. about 10-15 seconds later, the screen will just go black and the no input from the monitor comes up again. The computer is still running though.

So i juggle the computer pieces, remove and put back the ram. take out video card and put it back on. The computer will boot up fine, with no problems. When i power down at night, turn it on in the morning. Same problem as before.

Try a different monitor?

What happens when you hit reset when you get the black screen? Does it come up for an extended period of time? My video card displays a whole bunch of artifacts when I boot it up first thing in the morning. Once I hit the reset button, it works fine. I'm pretty sure it's my video card, but since it works after I hit the reset button, I'm just going to leave it until it completely dies on me (and gives me a reason to go buy a new computer.)

EDIT: Also forgot to ask - have you tried hooking something else up to the monitor (like another PC or your laptop) to see if it does the same thing? It it works fine on another PC, maybe it's an issue with power management (as you say it works for the first little while).
