Opinions needed - 2002 Civic Supsension issues

Hey there,

I'm wondering what people reccommend is the best course of action here:

My girlfriend has a 2002 Civic DX Coupe and she evidently needs new front brakes and her front right strut is leaking. The shop that did the diagnosis isn't sure if the strut mount needs to be replaced as well.

The brakes aren't really the issue. I'll do them myself.

The shops asking 254 per strut and 125 for the mount.

I come from the VW world so I don't know prices or shops that would carry aftermarket suspensions for Honda's, but I do know that for that sort of money I'd be considering aftermarket products, because i'd more than likely find something better for less money. Or find a complete set-up instead of just replacing the front end.

Anyone have any advice?

Not sure what you mean by strut mount. I've replaced tons of struts on that gen of civic because of leaks and it's just the strut itself that needs replacing. the new strut will have the base for the spring to sit on. Everything above the spring can be re-used. Below the base for the spring are the holes for the pinch bolts that secure the strut to the knuckle.
