You must be real young if you dont know what that music is. Its Nas, from his second Album I belive. Back before Hip Hop became the new disco. I think the album came out mid 90s. The beat is a sample from a Sting/Police song. I bet I have about 8 diffrent tracks set to that beat on mix tapes somwhere. man Im old lol. |

such a good album. |
It was a great album. I know the purist hip hop guys will scream bloody murder, but I actually like "It was written" better than "Illimatic". I heard some old tribe called quest the other day and couldn’t stop listening as well. So Good. It amazes me the downward spiral hip hop has taken in the last several years. How did we go from De La Soul to some little kid named "soulja boy"? WTF happened? I’m going to go dig out some albums now. Lol soooo off topic. |
I think this videos been posted before....but great nonetheless. |
Nas was the shit. I can't stand crap from today where its just bass and a flashy music video. His Illmatic was the first CD I ever bought, with Life's a Bitch and One Love |
repost |
The beat sounds a lot like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUfXBpwWi1E |

But the fact of the matter is, when I observe the music Asian cultures call "Hip-Hop", it's no different from the very kind of shit youngsters in America listen to today. American music has so much heritage; it's music has evolved at a much faster rate than music from various different cultures; so it's only natural to look down upon something that's actually taken a step back instead of forward. That being said, "It Was Written" was a great album; but "Illmatic" was produced when NaS was at his (then) limits--which is why it's still considered one of the greatest works of art in the hip-hop world today. |
