hmm, i would say thats closer to "wet carbon" than dry carbon technique.

dry carbon uses an autoclave to cure the piece. its technically lighter and stronger. wet carbon uses the same type of technique but lets it cure and dry without the use of an autoclave. it weighs more but u dont need an expensive large autoclave. a lot of the parts u see available for cars out, like cf hoods, generally just use 1 layer of carbon fibre with a fibreglass backing. CF isnt cheap anymore, so they use the fibrglass for strength.

alright, I have a FRP widebody kit, Lets make some CF parts

first you need to pick up the rolls of CF. highest quality CF ive seen so far is from japan. i dont know the current price for it though.

whatever part you have, u need to make a negative mold of it so that u can lay the CF over it to make a positive mold. most molds are good for 50 or so replica parts.

then u gotta make sure u get the right resin. there are so many different types out there. u got really strong ones but they are so strong, they are brittle. then u got the super soft ones, they are great cuz its closer to polyurethane, but flimsy. the ones in between, u gotta find one that doesnt turn yellow after a year of use.

as for labour, someone that can work with fibreglass can generally do it. the hardest part is making sure there are no air bubbles, hence why they used a vacuum, and rollers to push out as much air as possible. a vibrating table will help too.

after that, clear coat it, buff it, and there u go! CF PARTS! :)
