Anyone know what doctors do after they hit 50 patients per day?

To clarify, the walk-in clincs.

Do they just call it a day and head home?

Shun Izaki 04-04-2009 12:02 AM

It's fricking annoying, but yes, they close up shop and go home. The thing is, the waits for those walkin clinics really sucks. I once had to get a doctor's note for a training period during my job, and I ended up waiting 3 hours..

isnt this standard procedure for many doctors in BC?

michimaro 04-04-2009 09:34 PM

i know my family doc does that.

Well...working at walk-in clinic for a while now. Yes, we close and call it a day.

they don't get paid after they reach the maximum amount of patients so why would they keep looking when they can just refer the people to other walk in clinics or even the hospital.

How do you know what their answers are? Are you part of the interviewing committee?

or emergency room. Though I was at ER 2-3 weeks ago, and it took me almost 2 hours to get admitted. That's horse crap for someone who looks like they're half dead.

there's also the counter-argument of exhaustion. I can't say this is true for all doctors, but if you're going through 50 patients a day, you're going to get pretty tired. I'd hate to be patient #51 who gets mis-diagnosed because the doctor is too tired and worn out to properly assess the illness.

The legislations and rules are not only meant to save costs, but also to protect humans on both sides of the table.

Also, if your kid is sick enough to need to see a doctor urgently, they really should go to the hospital. Persistent cough? Family doctor. Constant vomiting? Children's Hospital.
