Removing Vinyl Decals

What is the best way to remove vinyl decals and not damage the paint underneath or is it best to leave it to a shop?

wow nobody knows. ok do any of the sponsors specialize in vinyl removal?

Heat and your fingernail. Grab a corner and pull slow. Use a blowdryer and don't let it get to hot or the glue will stay behind. I just pick a sunny day and do it then. Its quite easy.

Berz out.

+1

All the dealerships do is blowdry or heat gun.

Alright thanks.

Will the paint underneath be damaged?

Berz is right. Just enough heat to get the decal to lift and slowly pull back as you continue to heat the decal. Any glue left on the paint can be removed with any adhesive remover. If the heat from the gun is too hot for your hands, its probably to hot for the paint.

Might I had, you want to do this in a dry and clean environment. When using your blow dryer or a heat gun, patience is key. :)

I've seen a buddy of mine go to a car wash and used the pressure washer to take a stock sticker off. Doesn't always work though, depends on the nature of how sticky the decal is obviously.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I guess it is just a waiting game for a hot, dry day now.

Cheers
