Problem with PSU My psu is making a ton shit of noise is there anything i can do to it to quieten it? it makes a vibrating noise but when i push against it, it's fine again. can i spray some wd40? lol i don't really want to replace it. but i guess they're not expensive. so what do you suggest? should re tighten it? loosen it? i've tried compressed air and it hasn't helped whatsoever. thanks! |
The fan bearing probably died.... You can try to repair it, but its probably easier to just buy a new PSU. Buy a brand-name one...they tend to last longer. |
brand name ones tend to be more quiet |
Yeah, not much you can do about fans not spinning properly. If you want, you could open up the PSU and take a look at what kind of fan it uses. If you're lucky, it might use a common size with a common plug that you can get a replacement for... but usually not. |
you do not want to take apart a PSU unless ur certified or less get risked of shocked and killed |

i think i'll just replace it. what's the point of wattage? is higher going to necessarily be better? or should i just stick to whatever mine is rated at? |
