2 Hour limit pay parking

So i've been wondering, the most you can put into a parking meter is $2.00 which gives you 2 hours. But, am i allowed to stay at the same spot for over 2 hours as long as I keep paying?

Technically, you shouldnt but you can. Alot of people just change parking spots but its a pain.

wouwou 04-07-2009 09:29 AM

technically no, but as long as you are paying, they dont care

Overparking - When a parking meter is in effect, motorists shall not leave a vehicle in a metered space for a continuous period longer than the time limit indicated on the meter.

WTF $2 for 2 hours ?!?!?!? On Hornby and Robson 2 dollars gets you like half an hour, you're lucky !

I'm on 8th and Yukon, car was previously parked in a different spot where it was cheaper. Then i moved the car closer onto Yukon and it was priced higher there. Maybe they forgot to change one of the meters? =O Going to run out and move the car once again in 10 minutes... lol

I got my friend an underground parking spot in that area for around $120/month. She just had to leave a deposit for the keyfob.

Read the signs carefully. Some of them have posted on the meters "Repeat metering is prohibited."

Not really. You can get a parking ticket for going over 2 hours (though practically I don't know how strictly this is checked or enforced).

According to the city of Vancouver parking site, the idea of parking time limits, metered or not, is to allow for turnover of traffic in commercial areas.

when you put working in quotes like that you make me think you're a prostitute or something :haha:

but if you keep renewing the meter i dont think anyone will care or can really prove you've been there for more than 2 hrs. i think ppl only care if you're in a spot with no time on the meter

I was thinking the same thing... like, "Do you do a good business on that corner??"

Sure they can prove it. They used to mark the tires with chalk every time they made their rounds - one round per hour, two marks means you've already been there for a two-hour block.

Now they're all wireless and computerized - they just plug in your plate and the number on the meter and they know instantly how long you've been there.

I just pay for $2 by coin and $2 by phone... then it's 4 hours XD
