Help: Hood won't open.

So i sold my green booger machine and got another eg
93 civic HB nothing special.
Sometimes when you try to close it it sticks to "on/open" so you have to click the cable up.

Anyways,
Now as im going to go and lower my car, it decides that its on its reg and doesnt want to open up.

So ive tried a few things...
**Tightening the cable from the bracket/leaver.

**Getting someone to push down on the hood or push HARD on the hood while i pull the leaver.
( the hood also has a bunche of dents in the spot where it looks like a previous owner would have hit the hood trying to open it. )

** Going under the drivers side fender to play around with the cable aswell.

Anyone else run into anything like this?

p.s. im picking up my new hood thursday so if this one needs to be damaged thats fine.

Sorry!

vsvs and everyone else that posted, that's not very helpful at all.

lazybum, apply the KY to the hinge manifold joint flanges.

is the cable even connected to the latch?

illicitstylz 04-07-2009 12:51 PM

you bought another 93 eg hb? isn't that exactly what you already had?

Berzerker 04-07-2009 12:54 PM

The other one was auto but thats not the issue here.

Try pushing down on the hood while one person pulls the latch and make sure the latch is still fastened to the release mechanism under the hood.

Berz out.

..::lazybum::.. 04-07-2009 01:40 PM

I went from underneith it, and had to get a guy to pry it with a prybar again while i pulled on the cable.
It slipped out of its casing apparently i couldnt see exactly.
but now its just how to fix the latch... cause it is back to not wanted to close again.

again ,thanks!!

throw a new cable and latch into it!

problem solved

nickmak 04-07-2009 07:26 PM

so you've tried yanking the cable from inside the fender? if that doesn't work, it's the hood release bearings.
