Queensborough Bridge and suspension parts damage.

Heading north bound on the queensborough bridge, there is a huge pot hole. I hit that pot hole in my trans am and it bent the strut mounting point on my after market front lower control arm. I contacted the company that makes the control arm, and they said that this has never happened to their product before, and they will be sending me parts to reinforce it. But since it has been bent a bit, it needs to be un-bent before I can put the parts on, and bending and unbending it so many times will weaken the material. So I want to get another set of lower control arms. Is it possible to make a claim so I can get another set of control arms?

Here are the pics of the damage:

The city of new westminster, like all other municipalities will tell you to take it to icbc...i honestly don't think it's worth it, but you can try.. Is the hole in the left or right lane?
I used to drive over that bridge daily.

it isn't bent significantly enough to warrant a claim...

which lane is it on?

Those suspension parts weren't labelled "For off road use only" were they?

If so, then you may be SOL from ICBC.

If you do make an ICBC claim, it will go under collision and your rates will go up.

Bridges are under provincial jurisdiction... take a picture and contact the contractor who that strip... usually printed on their yellow trucks.

crap i have to drive over that today in a couple hours on the way to my exam, lowered with 35 profile tires.

which lane is it in? definitely don't want a bent rim or messed up control arm..

I believe they have patched that pot hole. I go over the bridge everyday and that pot hole is in the left lane but pretty much between lanes. It is patched and you guys have nothing to worry about. Unless of course there is a new pot hole in its place. Will update later today when I go home.

No it is even said on their website that it is for daily driven cars too.

And too all those asking which lane it is in, it is in the left lane

And how do i take a picture of a hole on a bridge? I cant stop. and there is no parking anywhere near.

make a claim via icbc.

icbc will represent u on ur behalf and sue the city for damages.

if the city accepts being the blame, it wont count against your insurance. its no different than a "at fault" and a "not at fault" collision claim.

If the part has the DOT mark then it is fine.

Bridges is not the jurisdiction of the city.. you will be dealing with the province.
