Ladner-Beaudry murder

http://www.vancouversun.com/Police+e...877/story.html

Seems like they are not releasing details of her death. Speculation has it she was decapitated, and may not be a random act of violence, ie she was targeted.

ASG111 04-08-2009 09:52 AM

^ where's the speculation from?

slammer111 04-08-2009 09:57 AM

This seriously sucks. The Endowment Lands is such an awesome place to go biking.

Here's a question... if she wasn't the sister of a well known political figure, would the case be receiving as much attention from the police?

Yep. I have never, ever heard of an area of the city being closed off for almost an entire week for a homicide investigation.

Wondering about the profile of the victim as well. Reminds me of the Graham McMynn abduction case a few years back...

zulutango 04-08-2009 12:48 PM

How about the fact that they have a huge wooded area to search, using the few left over from all the other concurrent murder & shooting investigations? I's not like the driveby at the gas station where you have a small lot to check. If it was your sister/wife/daughter killed would you like them to just brush it away without doing a proper investigation?

This is true.

What about killings in Stanley Park, though? AFAIK it has never been closed.

BTW, and I mean this fully respectfully, am I "right" to be sceptical about the McMynn case? His case received an awful lot (disproportionate amount?) of media and police attention.

possibility that he was help put into power by being funded by some individuals in the underground society and now he isnt keeping his words.

...You think a beheading in our own backyard wouldn't get a lot of attention regardless of who it was?

Edit: decapitation/behading - not sure what actually happened, but hell, someone lost their head!

B) shes rich
C)shes a community figure

hamhead 04-08-2009 02:26 PM

Of course not. In fact, that's the issue.

If it was someone completely random, I have serious doubts they would have used the same amount of resources.

It would get attention, sure... but to this degree? Questionable.

twitchyzero 04-08-2009 04:57 PM

but the thing is that stretch of road is used by over thousands of people daily. I dont know why they would close it down for close to a week now.

RIP anyhow..and cant believe it happened at broad daylight.

the reason this case is getting so much attention is because it is so ODD that this girl, the sister of mr. ladner got killed...

now why would she die?

because, P. Ladner didn't win the election? this is my theory...
he owed someone something if he got elected and because he didn't someone had to pay? it's a wild theory.. but that's mine..

or because her family was associated with the wrong people? washing money? i dunno.

A someone who has worked behind the scene in the media, the TV outlets in Vancouver and a major radio station, are on a crime feeding frenzy these days. I see how they sensationalize things simply for their own benefit, without any thought for truth or accuracy or objective and impartial reporting. The really don't care who they hurt if it helps their own objectives. Don't blame the Police for doing a through and difficult job. Every time I hear a CKNW story on the Braidwood fiasco, they end it with the statement that he died after being Tasered 5 times at YVR. Did you EVER hear them report that the autopsy showed that the Taser did NOT kill him?

There are ways to honestly report the news without hurting people..they are choosing NOT to do so. Just like a defense lawyer, the media can speculate on whatever they want, they can invent scenarios and then demand that the investigators respond. If they don't, the Cops are hiding something or obstructing their "right" to know. There are no consequences to this deliberate plan. I know, as I'm a radio News Director these days since I "retired". I resumed a 23 year previous broadcasting career and I'm disgusted with what is happening today. My station will never descend to this type of yellow journalism.

It's funny because even a guy like Ted Rogers, who was a Canadian icon, didn't even receive this much media attention, and his company focuses on communications and media. :lol

MR_BIGGS 04-09-2009 02:53 PM

zulutango 04-09-2009 03:12 PM
