Back in the day, me and my friend used to look for police incidents with my handheld scanner. We got familiar with a lot of their radio codes. The scanner is useless now, though... everyone has gone digital.

Back in the day circa 1996-1999, the illegal drag racing scene was really nuts. On friday nights there would be about 50+ cars gathered at this straight road at Sea Island that goes out to Iona Beach.
We'd have a friend hiding outside the only way in with a scanner, and he'd radio us on CBs that the cops were coming.

Sadly, there was this one night that no cops came to break up the races and we wondered why. On the following Monday, we found out that this dood at our high school almost got murdered by his dad at home, and that most of Richmond's cops were at their house.
