Auto X

Hey I was wonderinng if there is anyone out there that knows of Auto cross events that are happening this season. I have been researching and it seems to have been banned from this area( with unreasonable limitations and expectations). This would be my first time and everywhere I look they say "no first timers, under 92db..... is there any place I can go this summer or will we have to hunt down abandoned parking lots again... (sorry about the venting but the casual/weekend racing scene around here sucks) I would appreciate it If somone could help not only me buut all who search this forum for this answer. -thank you-

Novices welcomed!

But 92 db limit is still in effect. Might not seem fair, but to please a small crowd and have the neighbourhood hate us and fully ban all autoX would be worse.

Please, DO NOT Come out to our autocross events if your car is loud.

Even if you are not running with us, and just watching, the neighbours will associate your loud car with us (the autocross clubs) and it will create problems for us.

As mentioned above, novices are now welcome at all our events.

VCMC.ca, UBCSCC.com and PCA-CWR.org should have all the autocross dates listed.

If you are a non-porsche club member wanting to come to a Porsche club event, please contact me and I will make it happen.

I heard that side skirts are not permitted in autox, is it true?

Rich Sandor 04-21-2009 09:54 PM

who did you hear that from?

Cosmetic kits are generally allowed.

You're probably at a point of your driving that nobody will care even if it's marginal. No offense intended, that's the simple reality of it.

Rich Sandor 04-22-2009 01:43 AM

yeah, cosmetic side skirts are totally fine as long as they're not dragging on the ground under hard cornering, or about to fall off because of poor installation.

If you care about classing, adding side skirts might bump you to a different class, but that's not important at all unless you are competitive, which you won't be since you've never autox'd before.

We all have dB meters to use to measure the noise, but even if your car is within the limits, you could be asked to stop running if the car is obnoxiously loud.

If you have any doubt as to whether or not your car is too loud, don't use our venue to figure that out. Please leave it at home.

it's unfortunate, i am pretty sure at WOT i will be well above the limit with my current exhaust. i'll be testing out a silencer i have to see if it makes a difference, but i'm not holding my breath =[
