1 quick question... need answer asap please

I have to buy an iphone tomorrow immediately because I need someone to bring it back for me to Asia tomorrow. Can anyone please tell where I can get an Iphone without any phone plan?

Just rogers or Fido? Would I be able to get it just a bit cheaper somewhere else?

Quick help is appreciated

:)

You can walk into any cell phone place to buy an IPhone without a plan it's just you'll end up paying A LOT for it..

RFlush 04-22-2009 08:51 PM

Where in Asia are you going too?

The_AK 04-22-2009 08:57 PM

But if your friend is going to Asia, why not just buy it there?? Can't imagine it being cheaper here especially with the taxes and stuff

price may have dropped

Poonpee 04-22-2009 10:13 PM

Oh, if you buy it from a store here, you won't be able to use a foreign sim card in the iPhone. And since you aren't going to sign a contract meaning you wont have a Rogers or Fido sim, you are just buying an expensive iPod.

Not questioning you or anything... but is this true though? Cause one of my friend bought the phone here and brought it back to Taiwan:confused:

^ Then most likely he is kicking himself in the balls and wishing he had read this post.

wahyinghung 04-23-2009 12:25 AM

His friend might have unlocked/ jailbreak? (based on assumption) or roaming on Roger/Fido which =$$$$$$$

It depends when he bought his iPhone. If it was within the last month or so and has the updated baseband, then he wont be able to unlock his iPhone. The OP is looking to buy one today and all the phones distributed now that are brand new in the stores all have the updated baseband which is currently unlockable.

c3m 04-23-2009 09:02 AM

HK iPhones are not locked that's why they are more expensive
Fido / Rogers ones are locked and will need to get jailbreak in order to be used elsewhere

also keep in mind there MIGHT be more phones from Apple coming out in June

Uh...you know that only works on the older basebands and with the new iPhones on the updated baseband with a 5.9 bootloader, you still can't unlock it yet. So essentially, your post is garbage to the OP.
