Quick question - need glasses/contacts - best options/what to do to save money EDIT So I got my first 6 months worth of contacts from my optometrist. Not the best since it cost me $54 per box (2 boxes total for 6 months worth). Of course since it's my first time I figured what the heck. My question is guys, is there any harm with stocking up on contacts 1-2 years in advance? Because after checking out clearlycontacts, coastalcontacts, visiondirect, etc. I can pretty much buy my contacts (clearlycontacts + price match + discount codes) for approx 50% cheaper. Should I buy another year's worth now from clearlycontacts? Or is it not a good idea to stock up on contacts (for whatever reasons)? thanks |
Contact fitting sessions (well the one I had anyway) involve you trying on a few pairs, then taking the samples home to wear for a few days to one week each for you to judge which is best for you. Then you're supposed to go back, tell your doc which works, and he'll order them for you or you can go to clearlycontacts or wherever.. If all of them suck, then he'll give you other samples to wear for a few days. I wear glasses day-to-day and only wear contacts when snowboarding so I just kept the sample pair and never bought new ones haha. |
Hi I edited the opening post if someone could help me that would be great thanks! |
I bought 8 boxes of contacts from ClearlyContacts. My eyesight got worse after about half a year, so I needed to do an exchange. I just emailed them my order number, and the boxes I had, and which boxes I wanted to exchange for. I got a reply the next morning with them giving me a CanadaPost prepaid packaging slip telling me to just mail the old ones left over, and that they would ship the new ones today. Thumbs up to ClearlyContacts. |
wow that sounds awesome so I guess the only thing I have to worry about is my eyesight possibly getting worse but since clearlycontacts is willing to exchange then it's pretty safe I guess. I didn't even think about this part. Thanks I'll call them up to find out more details. I guess I should buy them soon because the price is really good (after price-matching). I hope to lock in the price for fear that they might increase in the future. |
If you have a membership to costco, their contacts prices are top notch. Paid about 34$ a box for acuvue oasys. |
some could probably draw a pretty sick contacts vs glasses comparison graph showing how glasses would be the best way to save money (should the glasses remain the same the period chosen) |
i've been wearing glasses pretty much forever its cheaper than getting contacts in the long run |
I hate glasses, contacts FTWm been wearing them since I was 13, I'm 27 now |
I'd say glasses for occasional and if you're playing sports and your degree is really high, you would have to wear the contacts ( if not. just take the glasses off). contacts are good but they take time to clean and some cant handle it because their eyes are too dry |
