CAMTAX service

I just thought I should share what happen these 48hrs. As I took my camera for regular sensor cleaning job, which I expect to be $35 as always.
Yet, today a technician name Allen tries to charge me for $120.
I was totally piss off because, first he didn't notify how much it would be.
Secondly, he made me waited 48hrs for it, when it should be done in an hour. Finally, the worse part is, he was talking rude to me, asking me how much I make an hour, and trashing talking about getting the sensory dirty again to make it $35 job. WTF?
Frankly, I have been there dozen of times, getting my lens repair, and regular cleaning, always a superb job. So I end up talking to the owner, paid $65 for it. I'm just suggesting people who plans on going there don't let Allen do it, because he will not only rip you off, he will also give you crap.

Now I gotta start looking for new place to clean sensor.
:( Any suggestion?

Didn't I post a warning not to go there?

You can do it yourself very easily. Just buy the fluid and sensor swabs. Very easy to do, and it takes 30 seconds. You're paying those guys $65 for 30 seconds of work. I can show you how to do it, if you're not sure. Just come down to Beau. :)

...and FYI, it's 'sensor' not 'sensory'.

yah, sensor lol, dunno why I add an y....

I know how to clean it, but I just dont have the time and effort, 30 seconds won't do it. I have a 1Ds mark II, which I use everyday, simple cleaning just leaves the corner dirty still. Its not the dust only, the grease on the sensor also sticks.

Ah, dirty corners and the infamous 1D shutter grease....that would be a 5 - 10 minute job. If you know how to clean it, then your sensor would be clean, wouldn't it? You're too lazy to do it yourself, but are willing to let it go for whatever time and money it takes to get it done? Doesn't make sense. Sounds like you need the corner swabs and the heavy duty Visible Dust fluid to get the job done. Should be an easy job. :)

Maybe Senna will do it for $35? :)

well, let me put it this way, I am willing to pay $35 for it, but not $65 or $120.
However, if you can make it clean as they do, I will pay you :D like Soundy suggested. We have a deal ? ;)

I can get you the tools needed to clean your sensor, but I will not do it. I can walk you through it though.

I just left my lens there for repair, a plastic ring that doesn't connect to the glass where the filter screws on was lose. they charged 20bucks for estimate and 74 for parts and 90 for labour. is that a good price? lens is a tamron 17-50. so basicly 184 for the repair.

^ Make sure they repair it well and it works properly before you leave. Canon Canada charged me $175 to repair a flash, and I've sent it back twice and it's still not fixed. Hoping to get a refund tomorrow after I talk to them. Canon Canada can't repair shit. Remember that.
