iphone 4g?

Does anyone know anything about the 4g Iphone that is supposed to be released this summer?
Someone told me it was in the next 2 months, another person said late summer.

From what i could find online, the 4 gen is supposed to have a camera in the front for video confrencing. New firmware, and better battery life.

I need a new phone, but since the 3G Iphone has only been out for a short period of time, and the 4G hasn't come out in Asia yet, I can't see how Canada will get it so soon.

"The Iphone 3g operates on third generation wireless networks, which allows for it's high speed connectivity. In the US, Apple has an exclusive contract with AT&T, so the Iphone 3g can only operate on AT&T's 3g network.

While Sprint does have plans to debut WiMax, it's 4G network, later this year through next year, AT&T will not have or be ready with 4g networks anytime soon.

Because of this there would be no point in releasing a third generation Iphone, aka Iphone 4g, at least not until the technology is ready.

It's like buying an Iphone 3g and not being able to use the 3g functions."

They may come out with a new model, but it won't be 4g

03aspec 05-03-2009 10:17 PM

lol, everyone always gets the g part of the iphones confused. the op means the 3rd generation of iphone, not the second gen or 3G as its called. but yes, its supposed to be released or announced some time next month, its supposed to have more ram and it may also come in a 32gb model.

Thanks guys. I guess there is no 4G network in the works for Rogers in the near future.
But a 32 gig iphone does sound tempting.

^ 32GB... will you listen to all that music before your battery dies?

I got an 8GB iphone and I don't fill it up. Just have my latest music on there and some videos. But i guess everyone's different

03aspec 05-04-2009 11:06 AM

i wouldnt mind having a 16gb though, more room for music, music videos and porn.

+Kardboard+ 05-04-2009 12:34 PM

32GB is good, but no more iTunes for me. I ended up filling up my 8GB iPhone too easily, so instead I got me a Cowon S9 32GB instead hahahah :lol

it would be very convenient for any one who will use it as their main portable music device. Say, driving around you could just plug it into your adapter and have all the music at your fingertips, while remaining to hold that full charge and the horrible battery.

As for me, I currently have a 8GB 2G iPhone, and I'm due for a phone upgrade in July, and I have been planning on this announcement for some time and have been over paying every bill... When release time comes, I wont have to shell out any more cash for a brand new iPhone ;)

Specs of the new upcoming Iphone was leaked.

A leaked screenshot recently showed more info about the updated hardware of the upcoming iPhone 2009 (to be announced this June, guys). That screenie backs up all the numerous speculations and rumors.
The iPhone 2009 is expected to be announced quite soon and according to the leaked info should have a 600MHz CPU (currently 400MHz), 256MB RAM (currently 128MB), 32GB internal memory (currently a maximum of 16GB), a 3.2 megapixel autofocus snapper, digital compass and FM radio.
Those specs definitely sound good although they are far from the best-of-class smartphones and we would have liked them to be even better.
Unfortunately, the rumors don't suggest any changes regarding the screen, battery or design.
Finally, the poster named Patapon200 mentions that Apple also have in store a 9.7-inch touchscreen tablet. It is expected to be announced later this year.
All that of course is just rumors, but in the past this particular forum was a trusted source of leaked information about Apple's stuff.

There is no proof that it is legit; however, that post is the closest thing to an actual photo that we have seen.
Let's hope that it is true... and that it has much better battery life, or is that asking too much from a cell phone?

03aspec 05-14-2009 09:48 PM

3g= killer of battery. this goes for most phones.

bcrdukes 05-14-2009 10:58 PM

This new iPhone you speak of will be capable of MMS (that's for sure) but speculatively speaking, video calling is enabled too.

+Kardboard+ 05-14-2009 11:01 PM

The iPhone 3G running 3.0.0 firmware should be able to do MMS too. The 2G as well I think, when running 3.0.0?

03aspec 05-15-2009 02:58 AM

no mms on 2g, 3g gets everything the 3.0os has to offer.

+Kardboard+ 05-15-2009 06:39 AM

Bummer. I'm still surprised at the fact that the 2G won't even get A2DP with 3.0.0.

More rumors surfaced.

Next iPhone to launch July 17 with OLED display and glowing Apple logo?
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget....attephone2.jpg
You had to know we'd see a flurry of iPhone rumors and news as the Apple community reacted to the Pre's official price and launch date, and right on schedule, we've got whispers that Cupertino's next handset will be announced at WWDC, feature an OLED display and a glowing Apple logo, and launch on July 17. There's also a longer list of detailed specs, but for the most part they're just a combination of that matte black casing leak from February and those Chinese specs from last week. So are they the real deal? Well, the source and the site they're on seem a little shaky to us, but the specs themselves don't seem too far-fetched -- OLED screens are getting cheaper and more prevalent, and we're almost certain to see bumps in camera resolution and storage, so even if they are totally made up, we'd venture to guess they're more right than wrong. That's just us, though -- check out the full spec list after the break and tell us what you think.

you refer to the 4G network... yet you also refer to 4th generation iphone..
if a new iphone is announced in june, it will be the 3rd generation of iphone that runs of the 3G network...

the current iPhone 3G is the 2nd generation of iPhones..
