Sony Reader anyone?

I'm thinking of buying the Sony LCD book reader; does anyone have one or have friends with one? Opinions? thx!

My friend has PRS-505. It's great if you love reading.

The display is not an LCD, it's e-ink or whatever, and it only consumes battery when you "turn the page." That's why the rechargeable battery runs on forever and you rarely have to charge it.

Amazon Kindle is cheaper and better

I have the 505 and i love it!

Really easy to use and no problems with it at all. I've also bought the optional light for it as I read before I go to bed.....

Most of the 'books' that I read are all from torrents and I also use it to read manga (JPG's converted to ebook format).

Check out www.mobileread.com for opinions on different readers and hacks and tips.

Sony is easier to hack and Kindle is less portable to a certain extend. Each to their own though.

Prices are WTF though. I can use my PDA for cheaper... and it has a backlight!

I would really love one, but the prices are prohibitively high for both the Kindle and the Sony PRS.

Your netbook runs for only 3hrs! :p

Seriously, if you don't read books, e-reader are not something for you. But there isn't really other electronic device that can beat e-readers like Sony or Kindle when it comes to reading.
