I liked books like The Crysalids and 1984. What are some good books like these? future science fiction types. |
hitchhikers guide? |
speaking of the hitchhikers guide, just read it. 9/10 the narration is just so awesome that the movie just fails so miserably next to the book. the perks of being a wallflower: 8.5/10 i think everyone can relate to parts of this book. cant wait for the movie. |

This is a mentoring book primarily for the 20-to-40-year-old with entrepreneurial aspirations. Many older folks will also derive considerable inspiration from the life and business lessons contained in Get Smarter. In examining his own life Seymour Schulich, a Canadian billionaire and philanthropist, realized that at age 20 he-like others his age-knew very little and was aware of that fact. At 30, he writes, one thinks one has acquired a lot of wisdom. Upon later reflection, however, he realized he knew very little at that age, too! |
Has anybody read Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol? Not gonna lie, I loved A&D and The Da Vinci Code. Hearing mixed things about it, mostly negative though. Should I even bother? |

Bumping an old thread. Thoughts on the book "Competitive Strategy: Techniques for Analyzing Industries and Competitors" How friendly is it to someone with no background at all in finance/investment? Recently finished "Good fats bad fats" by gary taubes. The dude takes a very strong stance for the points he makes and puts up good arguments for it too |
Girlfriend in a Coma - Douglas Coopland really good read, It's local too so you'll recognize the names and places of areas. Mainly takes place in the North Shore area. |

Currently on blue ocean strategy intriguing so far, it complements alot of the ideas that I can come to good terms with. It's when they start illustrating concepts by drawing upon real-world examples that I might show some disagreement with |
halfway through enders game actually. its not bad, but its still just building up. also read hokkaido highway blues, about a canadian who hitch hikes through japan. well written but a lot of anti japanese sentiments that were kind of counter to what i expected while reading the book. |
finished good boss, bad boss - dr. robert sutton even though some of his points can come across as being common sense, they are key principles that we often leave out/neglect in our daily lives and he is able to draw upon them with great insight. He really likes to illustrate concepts through examples in the corporate setting that I find to be really interesting and relatable. great read 8/10 |
Hannibal and Me by Andreas Kleuth. A good book about how to achieve success and learn from failure. |
