| Tax free phones+Manufacture warrenty
So my sister bought a n79 in some cellphone store in MongKok and it's not broken, since the store refuses to fix it for her for free, I told her to go to the Nokia flagship store and get either fixed there or get it replaced. It's a week old so warrenty is still in effect but she's afraid they'll charge her because it was bought free of tax. Someone told her that nokia can check through the IMEI code, but I don't see how they can.
Does anyone have any experience with this type of situation? Any help would be deeply appreciated, please and thank you.

Nokia will match up the IMEI within their databases to verify date of manufacture.

shouldnt have a way to check. i mean even through rogers we dun give a shit if u bought it tax free or w/e. we scan the imei and see the original purchase date of the phone. if it's in warranty we send it out. if not then we require a proof of purchase to send it out. at least thats how rogers does it.
