whats a good amp to get? exile any good? inneed of new amp i was lookin at this one http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...gon=&langid=EN 300 bucks for 500 watts, you can wire it down to 1 ohms.. i wanna hook this up to an alpine type r and i would need a 4ohm dvc one right? |
Ya, no. We like to look at several items to determine the real output of an amp. We look at signal to noise ratio, the size of the fuse, wire guage input size, damping factor, the difference beween the output rating at 4 ohms compared to 1 ohms and efficiency factor. Is your Type R a dual 4 ohm sub? If it is, then you're going to want to look at an amp that is most efficient at 2 ohms. We have a Pioneer PRS amp that is 600 watts at 2 ohms with relevant numbers to match up to what your sub is capable of. It peaks out at 1100 watts. It will be about twice as loud as the Exile for a hundred bucks more. How's that for bang for your buck? |
1+ for the PRS amp it's super small too. |
$350 will get you a brand new 820 watt (RMS) amp from Digital Designs. |
