Anyone working for a cell phone company these days?

So I'm with Bell right now, looking at a new phone. Probably a smart phone, but I'm not sold on the extra monthly cost just yet.

Right now my plan is $25/mo (plus fees and all comes to 36ish), and I get:
250 Anytime minutes
Free evenings from 6pm
Free weekends
Free caller ID
Free call waiting
Free voicemail
Free unlimited text messaging

With my plan they say I can add unlimited email/data for $30/mo. not a bad deal I think, but I'm on Bell.

So ideally I think I'd like to switch to Rogers, but they won't match my plan even to get a new customer, so I'm looking for some help.

The last time I posted about this a few years back is how I got this plan (someone posted a coupon code that got it for me), so hopefully someone can offer some help.

Thanks.

I am with Bell and I have the Samsung instinct phone. I got the Fun15 package which costs an extra $15/month which gives me unlimited browser, 250 sent texts(unlimited received I believe), voice mail, caller id. Not sure if that would well for you but maybe see if they have a similar package available.

EDIT: sorry I may have read that wrong, is the $30 a month total for everything or just the additional things like email/text?

I don't, but your plan is freaking cheap.
Mine is 20 a month just for 175 minutes. Text, caller id, voicemail and all that is an extra 15 bucks.

your plan is ridiculously cheap, you can have it matched. Just don't go see salespeople. You need to call rogers themselves.

They more then likley can't do it.

It's $30/mo on top of what I'm paying now to get unlimited email/data, plus if I do that I get a bigger discount than just a 3 year term when buying a smart phone.

And no, Telus and Rogers over the phone won't match it :(

The closest I've come is a guy at rogers that could do it for $75/mo a while ago, but I wasn't ready for a new phone then.

I switched to Virgin a while back and I'm really happy with their service. There are some really good deals for prepaid (no contract) that include most features and no fees. You might want to check them out.

Didn't Bell just buyout Virgin? Don't know if that would change anything with them....

Telecommunications are a huge rip off right now.

Prices have been rising and rising but we really havn't gotten anything different other then fancier phones. Somehow its okay to just raise the price on something that gets chaper and cheaper to provide.

I like how when you compare all the companies it like looking for a cheaper gas station in victoria, not gonna happen.

the biggest problem is that you have to change your phone number when you change your company.

for example, in japan...the most competitive cell phone market in the world, you can keep your phone number and change your plan with other company. So the competition is a lot more intense.

i believe you can take your phone number with you, line number portability

What he said... you don't always have to get a new number. Not all numbers can be transferred easily though.
