Valve stem leak? While checking air pressure in my tires I found that one of the valve stems is defective. When I try testing the air pressure, the air is escapes from the wheel (where the valve stem meets the wheel) instead of from the valve stem. It seems that the seal between the valve stem and the wheel has broken?? I am a noob at this and I was wondering if anyone out there can help me find a solution. Do I have to replace the valve stem? I have Rays valve stems.. :( Where can I have someone help me do that? I think my tire is leaking air  |
Is it rubber or metal valve stem? If it's rubber, you can go any tireshop and they can replace a new one for you ($$$) I assume Rays valve stem it's a metal one? so either it's corrosion or you tighten up with wrench? maybe the bolt is loosen? |
Spray the valve stem with soapy water. If it bubbles from the inside of the stem, tighten or replace the core (should be cheap if not free). If it's leaking between the wheel and the stem, you'll have to replace the stem. If it's not leaking from the stem, spray around the bead (where the tire and rims meets) on both sides. If it's still not leaking start spraying the tread. |
Tire shops exist for a reason... |

did i screw it up? |
Why would you tighten a valve stem cap with a wrench? You need a new valve stem. |
hes talkin about tightening the metal valve stem to the wheel. most of the time the rubber gourmet wears out and then it starts leaking |
