^ You'd still need a drive since USB is just a means of transporting data to and from a host. But right now, I think all mainstream HDD aren't even close enough to transfer 1Gbps, let alone 5. There are probably a few SSD exceptions though? |
they had usb3 for a while but intel was being an ass lets see if it actually get released in september |
^^ that's correct. i think iirc 3Gbps (SATA2) is around 250mb/s (note the difference) and those are only being maxed out by intel's x25 and other enterprise ssds. Oh, and those pesky PCIE SSDs:thumbsup: but still better to lay out road before roadblocks hit. |

Knowing USB, average throughput probably won't be anywhere remotely close to its theoretical maximum, as has been the case with USB 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0 ... |
Old news. But yeah, let's see some HDs that can write even 10% as quickly as these.. |
