Epic deal at Canadian Tire - deck + 6.5 speakers + 2GB MP3 player = $79.99!
 

I just spotted this awesome deal in No. 3 road canadian tire. The kit is from SONY. So all the ingredients are Sony.

The "kit" is said to be a "Marine" kit but once you look through the whiteness of all the components it's a 1-DIN deck, 2 6.5" coaxial speakers and a 2GB Sony MP3 walkman all for 79.99!!

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post it but yeah now you know! The deck has aux input to work with the mp3 player.

it's just sitting there chillin' on the parts counter.... I don't think you can beat that price anywhere short of stealing it....

When is the sale on until?

I don't know it seems to be an "individual store clearance item" so I don't think it's available at any other CTs...

It's not listed on their websites either.

do they install it too or is it just for the deck + speakers etc

You get what you pay for.
That Sony deck is VERY crappy and the speakers are a dual 'whizzer' cone much like the ones you see in factory cars (ie: Hondas etc). Speakers are worth about $5 a pop. Deck is $50 max.

Anyways, spend a little bit more and a get a lot better sound and reliability.

^ you don't know the population of RS to be thinking that. LOL. I'm not saying it's gonna win any sound-off competition but a 52W x 4 deck with 2 speakers are worth more than 79.99. Throw in a free 2GB MP3 player that doubles as your walk-about casual piece and it's a sweet sweet deal to have. That Sony MP3 player retails at like 49.99 on its own.

When I was at your place you couldn't get me a USED deck at that price, remember?

Not at that time but I know we have a couple of $50 decks right now that will run circles around that Sony even if they are slightly used. We also have some used 6.5" speakers for around $30 (coaxial, not dual cone) that'll sound amazing compared to the crappy Sonys. There are deals to be had everywhere...some deals are better than others. Why is this set so cheap? They must still be making money on it. You can buy the kit, install it and I really want to hear how good it is. LOL...

It's an in store clearance item it's probably below cost. Plus how "good" it sounds is definitely not 1st in the sub $100 system people's list of concerns.

lol I went by to get some oil and i saw the deal, its a pretty damn good deal honestly, just not for people who are looking to win awards for best sounding system lol :thumbsup:

Bahaha my sister's boyfriend bought that same deck and speaker package and it was garbage. The deck stopped playing CD's after about 2 months and they wouldn't give the guy an exchange which was gay. He put the speakers in his old Accord and they sounded worse than the stock ones...lol....we decided to pour lighter fluid on them and watch them burn. :haha: You get what you pay for
