2 Minutes late for parking ticket

I've searched all the threads, none had an answer, so I'm asking you guys.
My mom and I returned to our car near Richards and W Georgia literally 2 minutes (give or take MAX 30 seconds) after our meter expired. And we got ticketed. We were so close, the building was right in front of it so we didn't see the guy ticket us when we left the building.
Would we have any decent grounds to dispute this ticket? And is there a fee to do so?
Thanks in advance

um...but u already said u were late. the meter expired.

what's to dispute?

R8 05-19-2009 06:54 PM

ya.... whats to dispute? if you were late, your late.

bui95 05-19-2009 09:58 PM

yeah go dispute. tell them you were only 2 mins late(give or take 30 seconds) and that they should've been a little more lenient and give people a buffer zone of like 5mins before ticketing.....

ill just park my car without paying for the meter at all. when i get a ticket, i'll just dispute it and say "but my mom and i were only late by 2 minutes!!" i'll do this everytime i have to park at a meter, plus i'll tell all my friends, and they'll tell their friends, then nobody has to pay for parking meters!! :D

with this revelation no one on RS.net will pay for parking again :haha:

we'll call it
"the chr1s defense"
similar to the famous Chewbacca defense "it just dont make no sense!"

1. You are guilty and there is nothing to dispute.

2. Your PLATE (not you as an individual nor your car) is eligible for a single parking meter time violation ticket "courtesy" cancellation. Call the number on the back of the ticket and ask nicely for the meter ticket to be waived. You can only do this once per PLATE, and only for over-time meter tickets in the City of Vancouver. Don't know about other municipalities.

hey guys, kinda On Topic... but i got a parking tix from easy park for meter expiry. but the thign is i paid over the phone (pay by phone) ... apparently it didnt get registered...so now i got a tix.... anything i can do.. i already called the dispute office and left her a message... this is the 2nd time ezpark screwed me over.... they aint so easy!

sorry for the long sentences with ... haha .. too lazy to edit!

saucywoman 05-20-2009 01:26 PM

tiger if you paid by phone if the payment actually went through then there would be some record of this on your bank or credit card statement, show them the record and they should accept it.

Dragon-88 05-20-2009 03:45 PM

Watch Parking Wars... (LOL its a great stoner show)... Your leniency is 3 secs which I think is plenty... If you were going to be late why not pay more??? If you paid the max 2 hours, then you shouldve gotten out early just to pay for the extre few minutes/seconds... Either way as you can see its not their fault because you were 30sec-2mins late... They gave you 3 secs to put in money and you werent there... Just pay for the tix and go on with your life, not worth the hassle unless you have something to back you up....

is easypark the private ones like IMpark?
if so, i wouldnt bother paying for them. cheaper to change the plate.

Parking meters in Vancouver (and possibly other municipalities) show 0:00 (with the other side clear) for 2 minutes after the countdown expires. Then it flips to 00:00 (with the other side red). The parking office will KNOW whether or not you actually missed it by 2 minutes. :)

FYI because a lot of these replys in most of these threads are from some ignorant folks who obviously have never made an honest mistake in their life - and apperently wanting to contest a parking ticket is beyond the scope of the immagination of "you did wrong you must pay" I have a few choice words to those fools, but thats for another time. For now here is some advice.

If it was a City of Vancouver ticket you usually get one "get out of jail free" card

Phone them up, be really polite explain the situation and ask if they could show a little leniency

I've got a ticket on two different license plates and they were extremely helfull and let me off the hook. Metro newspaper I think it was also did a little digging and found this same thing

All of this coming from someone who can't even spell. Yeah, calling others ignorant is the way to go about things.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Thanks for the repost. Your "advice" was already posted.
