How hard to swap a Accord V6 engine into a Accord V4 vehicle?

I got a 01 V6 engine lying around and was thinking of swapping it into my 01 Accord 4 banger coupe..

is this a hard thing to do? I know the b18 b16 are easy....subrame everything is the same.

V4?

the 01 accord v6 unless your doing a tranny swap with a cl-s don't do it.

the 6th gen accord's tranny's always been troublesome. either do a cl-s tranny swap or don't do it at all

To me this seems like the very definition of "not worth the trouble"

The level of difficulty purely depends on your mechanical competency. I don't know the specifics for that particular swap but the typical things you need are a matching wire harness to fit the V6, the ECU, matching tranny and all mounts, corresponding gauge cluster, cradle braces, and possibly some other parts dependin on how different the designs of the enines are. It's doable as I've helped with I4 to V6 swaps before, but they do requires fair bit of work.

maybe he meant I4

why would you want 4 cyl engine anyways? that's like downgrading.

I'm pretty sure he is swapping a v6 INTO his currently existing I4 accord. Unless i read it wrong.

B18 and B16 would not just drop into an accord. As stated earlier the accord uses an I4 F series engine. If you really want an accord V6, the cheapest way to do it (by miles) is to sell your 4 cyl. and buy a v6 car.

exactly to sway your f22 out and put a j30a1 in is not worth the trouble, so many things has to been changed, engine, tranny, engine mounts, ecu, gauges, front suspension parts (weight difference)

if you really want to swap. get a CL-s j32 w/ 6 speed and swap all the parts over THAT's worth it tho it'll cost you.

go to v6performance.net for more info

I would sell of the I4 and buy a V6 since the price is practically the same for a used one in that year model.

doesn't the 01Accord have the F23? anyhow it'd suck if you aren't very mechanically inclined.

as well the V6 models and the I4 models have more differences than just the engine.

put a H22a in there, :D

sod that would be easier and cheaper to sell you're car and buy a v6

BlackV62K2 05-20-2009 03:11 PM

Not worth the trouble to swap the J30A1 motor in there.

Niggy 05-20-2009 03:37 PM

thanks for the input guys..... I guess too much of a hassle over all!

impactX 05-20-2009 05:47 PM

AT or MT? If it's AT, you will destroy the gearbox faster with the extra torque from the V6.

whops it is a f23

but the best thing to do if you want to have more power is do a h22 swap you can keep the tranny but with 200hp
