"Look Good , Feel Good"!! its as simple as that.........well in my case it is. Thats why i buy designer (expensive) clothes. I don't buy something because it is necessarily expensive, but the clothes i like and have a nice fit to my body structure TEND to be the more expensive clothes. But to each his own.

To hell with competence! LOL

What industry is this, BTW? Definitely, not all are like this.

I guarantee that I will look better in a $20 t-shirt that flatters my body than someone who spends 10 times more

rick owens is jacked, but how can he say that when hes a fashion designer? kind of hypocritical and the prices he charges for his clothing.. lol

Because labels are love to them.
I don't know, because they think they're ballers.

You culd ask this question about anything

why do people like to buy expensive cars/cuisine/paintings/car parts/tvs/etcetc

i buy alot of expensive clothing (rick owens) but i dont buy much else, its a sacrifice im willing to make

WHEYsted 05-26-2009 09:00 PM

OP doesn't like to check his grammar because (fill in blank)

Anyways, people like to buy expensive clothing because they can and it feels good. Some even buy it to fit in with the "cool" people, or show off and pretend that their rich.

A stylish wardrobe (which doesn't necessarily mean super expensive labels) is one of the best investments you can make. I pity young people who dress like crap day in and day out.

WRONG.
Some of the wealthiest people I know are low-profile to the point that they hide it. Wealthy as in well over $50M net worth. (e.g. cars = ford explorer, jeans and plain sweaters).

liu13 05-27-2009 05:30 AM

50 m net worth with a ford explorer, those are some humble ppls

i agree with that a lot of wealthy ppl tend to dress down to middle class, nice clothes with modest prices, it's ironic since you see a lot of low class ppl wearing expensive clothes even though their wages and homes are nothing to brag about

lol... this always makes me laugh because if i had 50 mil in the bank I would try my damn hardest to stimulate the economy. It's just selfish in general. Noone needs 50 million dollars.

If you're talking about clothes with big flashy logos all over then i don't know.

but in my case i'd generally buy a nice $90 top then a cheap $25 look-a-like. the $80 tops material feels better and may last a few years where as the $20 top gets old in a few months.
sometimes its better to invest in something a bit pricey because it will last you, better than spending $20 every few months.
same goes for designer jeans - if i can find some that fit my body just as well i'm all over them. If you truely love those $300 jeans and continue to wear them for years to come then it comes down to pennies a wear.

but i'll admitt the CA/Ed hardy phase is getting a bit out of hand.

CanadaGoose 05-27-2009 03:17 PM

When you look great, you feel great

isn't that what everybody is after"? To feel good

No; they don't have it in cash; its their net worth if they sold their companies etc. They ARE stimulating the economy big time - they are employing dozens and dozens of people who put food on the table for their kids.

WRONG!

Most people have to dress for success. You live in london you doofus -- your friends are an exception to the rule.

I guarantee 99% of the worlds richest (working) 100,000 people wear a suit to work.

I buy what I think is nice or I like. If it's a ridiculous amount, I don't even look back but if it's reasonable then it's in the bag...

I buy it because I like it and not to show off ;)

v.Rossi 05-29-2009 12:40 PM

then again what is considered expensive? a suit that's like $500 is already expensive to me, but to the ceo's out there that's nothing.

ed hardy and ca, i can understand some people liking certain designs they have, jeans for the wash, but if a majority of your closet is full of this stuff. then just admit it, you're in it for the brand and nothing else.

LeanNsupreme 05-29-2009 12:47 PM

Sometimes when i shit myself it gives me a wealthy feeling in my pants.

Adsdeman 05-29-2009 12:51 PM

cos thier not cheap

Mr.HappySilp 05-29-2009 01:28 PM

I buy expensive clothes(well like not like super expensive but not the cheapy stuff rom wal mart or old navy...) is for the quality.

I use to shop and buy cheap clothing ($5 T-shirts and $20 jeans). Sure they are cheap but after 1 to 2 wash they look really crappy and shrink and not to mention to stain other clothes.

I buy decent clothes now(not super expenisve) and the quality is much much better. Jeans and shirts still looks pretty new after a few years of wear and they don't lose color. Not to mention it feels more confortable.

No, not true at all. It's actually quite the opposite from what i've seen.

LC21 05-30-2009 12:02 AM
