Scam? So I was looking to sell my phone and plan on craigslist when this guy gets in contact with me, here are the emails sent back and forth: Him: I am interested to take over Me: Whenever you are ready to take over you can give me your name and I can call bell and let them know that you will be calling in to take over Him: my name is alexandre galerio, put a note with my name and let me know when I can call bell I will need the phone number and name on the contract to be able to call bell and go through the credit check Me: Ok sounds good. Ill give them a call tomorrow with your name and a note on the account, when can you come pick up the phone? Him: bell closes at 9 so we could do it tonight Me: I'm actually not back in town until tomorrow. I can call them now with the note and come drop it off for you tomorrow. How does that sound? My name is _________ and the phone number is 604_______ Me: Ok I just called and everything is setup. You can call them and give them your information. Where and when did you want to meet? Him: let me know when I can call tomorrow Me: You can call now Him: I took over, call bell to verify Me: Sounds good. Where do you live? Him: in montreal until end of june to finish my baccalaureat so you will need to ship me the phone Me: Um I was only looking for a local deal, I can drop it off for someone here and they can ship it for you Him: ship it COD cash on delivery and nothing to pay on your side, no worry the adress : Martin Lambert 2600 Ontario EST Suite 135 succ Place Frontenac CP88553 Montreal Quebec H2K4S9 ship it COD XPRESSPOST It cost me 25$ transfer fees to take over your contract on my side regards Me: Why is the name I'm sending to different than the one that took over the contract. Sorry I don't wanna get scammed and lose my phone for nothing. Is there anyone here in vancouver I can drop it off to? This seems kind of fishy to me because of the 2 names, but I did call Bell and he did take over my contract with the first name. I don't really have much to lose, except I'm scared that they're using someone else's identity and that I'll get stuck with contract once again when the person reports that they've received a bill for something they don't own or use. What do you guys think? |
Why not meet up with someone at a Bell store so you won't get screwed over? The peace of mind of doing it PROPERLY = priceless |

Iuno about this one man, usually these scams are those nigerian 419 scams where they tell u ship it to some shithole in africa, ask him to Paypal u the money or something |
It might be a scam considering he knows how to transfer a plan over (putting a name on the account). Chances are he has done this more than once. |
This = Sketch. (why not his name for the address?) Quote:

So the guy called me today with a hardcore french accent, he said that the second name was his business partners name that owns the place so that's why he put his name? The guy sounded pretty legit to be honest. I also called Bell and asked them what would happen, and they said nothing would come back to me so should I just send it out? The ad on craigslist said the phone is free as long as they take over my plan |
tell him to go lick a dick |
Craigslist -> local sale or he pays up front. Otherwise it's a scam. |

what does the buyer has to pay when the phone is free as long as takin over the plan? just ship it COD, bell already confirmed u wont get in trouble. And if u dont ship the phone, u are the one scamming the buyer. |

Bell could say they were provided with fraudulent information, then pull the plug. Now the OP is out of a phone. |
