PIAA bulb legal?

is PIAA INTENSE WHITE H4 4100k legal? the box says it's manufactured to SAE standards and it's standard v/watt  and their site also say their stuff is legal but is it? sylvania silverstar ultra also same spec except dies faster and also SAE so shouldn't it be the same?

bulb life has nothing to do with SAE. The bulb may be manufactured to a legal standard, but in reallity, the PIAA H4 intense white would have to say HB2 on it for one thing. It would have to have a SAE mark on it as well.

so, if the cops are being AXX XXXes then they could say it is not legal.

my stock bulbs got no SAE mark on it though, so is it like either SAE or DOT then is fine or is it both? maybe i should just keep the box with me huh incase, atleast it saids it's to SAE standards =O

keep the box. what car is this? What are all the marks on the bulb say?

the PIAA GTX is DOT approved.

also I've seen PIAA 4100k and didn't look like it would be an issue.

anyone know if it needs special wire harness or it is just plug and play as stock since is 60/55w???

Overseas Auto1 06-19-2009 05:21 PM

Timpo 06-20-2009 01:51 PM

If they came with ballasts then you have to get them installed. But I highly doubt that since it's under 5000k.
