JL 10W6V2-D4 enclosure size? JL recommends .625 cubes sealed/.75 cubes vented, tuned to 38hz. Has anyone tried the vented box? Sounds small to me. Thanks. |
That is pretty small. The last box I made for a JL was for a 12W6 V2 and I remember it was about 1.25 cubic feet. .75 is pretty tiny but if thats what they recommend.... |
thanks man. I emailed them about it, and someone from JL said that it was the one that they recommend..... only one way to find out, I guess, unless someone with box software can run the numbers for me.... |
I would try making a .75' box, sealed. Check it out. Add a port afterward if you'd like. |
Actually W6's take a surprisingly small enclosure space, sound way better with a smaller enclosure. Actually when you buy them preloaded in a JL Audio Box, you will see that their box specs are actually smaller than the subwoofer recommended specs. |
^^ Thanks for the help gents, appreciate that. Good point Keith, that would be the way to go. 400 watts rms to this sub be okay to run it with? |

Gotcha, thanks. Might be swinging by tomorrow to bug you guys for a Sony cage, if you have it....... BTW it is not going in my vehicle, just to avoid being razzed..... ;) |
I've done them in smaller vented enclosures. Sound good. Very tight. |

Was for an SUV. I'll see if I can dig up pics. |
good deal, thanks. |
id build it ported with a singe 4" aeroport and around 1.4 cubic feet then shrink it bit by bit and retune your port as desired until you get it where you want it. |
Thanks Wagonized, appreciate that! So start with the Aeroport at full length and shorten it until it sounds best? Did I read your sig. corrctly, twelve 18" subs in the Malibu?????? Damn...... |
