Medium write error!!!

hi everyone, first time on this part of RS
Hoping someone can tell me what's wrong

I'm using a 20" mac with a 2.66? GHz and 4gb ram
bought it last august.

Neways heres the problem
I'm on itunes and i'd say a good 50% of the time,
when i want to burn a CD it tells me "medium write error" and when it's 99% done it spits out the CD
So when i stick it in a CD player, the last track is just disappeared sorta or skippy.

I'm just using regular Sony CD-Rs from costco and they have a recording time of 80mins, the CD i wanted to burn was <75 mins, so i thought it'd be fine. I burn it at 4mb/s? and not the maximum speed. Same thing happens only 12/13 tracks are burnt onto the CD.
The 12 that are burnt work fine though.
This happens all the time and i'm going through CDs pretty fast.

PLZ!!!

at 99% eh? thats when its trying to close the disc. as others have said, try a different brand of disc and also try a lower write speed. if that doesnt work then give apple tech support a call and ask for help, they will probably book an appointment for you to take your mac to the apple store to have the drive swapped.

Yeah, I actually think that's a hardware problem with the burner.

I've seen this before.

The laser portion of the drive for burning is defunct. Call up Apple to proceed further for instructions on warranty issues.
