im just starting off on lessons right now

theres so many ranges of golf clubs/sets, which ones are good buy's for beginners? what brand is good?

they range from $100 ~300

would i need to buy a full 18 piece set?
or just buy a driver putter chipper and i'll be fine?!

last year, i bought a set of 18pc Ram GeForce (something along thoes lines) for only $130 at sportschek. (reg $229.99)

it's pretty good for beginners. then, i bought a used Cobra driver and a Taylormade 3 and a new $20 sand wedge.

so my setup is only about $200 which is pretty good for a newbie.

bought a $50 fraserview driving range card so it's only $2.50/60balls!

i try to keep it to 1 round of pitch and putt everyweek at either kensington or central =)

I would say it depends how serious you are in learning golf and sticking with it. I went into golf thinking the same thing as you and just buying a beginner set to learn on, then upgrade. Spent $350 on an all in one top flite set. Came with a Driver, 2 Woods, 2 Hybrids, and 6i to SW. I took lessons 4 times a month for 2-3 months and picked up the game pretty fast.

3 months later, I made the mistake of walking into golftown and trying out some clubs. I bought X20 irons, Rapture hybrids, Cleveland Wedges, and a TM Burner Driver... which is now a TM R9.

Basically in my case, I should have just bought the X20's to begin with and I would have saved $350 not buying that beginner set. It all depends on what you can spend, and if you plan on keeping the clubs you buy for a long time or not.

So if anyone is looking for a left handed all in one golf club set, let me know! Some of the clubs have never been used yet! :D

i bought a cheap used $50 hippo set just to try out to see if i like golf. 2 months later, upgraded to taylormade r7's and i've kept them for 2yrs now.

if anyone needs a left handed 2007 burner #5 fairway wood, i got one barely hit for sale =)
