Need a cheap USB flashdrive? Any local sites/stores?

I need a 8 or 16gb USB flashdrive for my car. Ebay has a ton of no name flashdrives but is there any local shops or websites that carry them?

The prices have been pretty constant and haven't been going up nor down. :(

I guess you can try the night market. Didn't pay attention so I can't tell you what the prices are.

today's special at ncix
16gb 20$
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...n&promoid=1043

the 8gb is listed at 18.99 i believe... which i find really bizarre since the 16gb is the same.

Doesn't get much cheaper than that. I have one of these and it works great. It's not the fastest but I rarely copy huge files at once anyway.

Harvey Specter 06-03-2009 11:50 PM

I just ordered mine; total came to just under $25 shipped. What a deal, thanks again.

Ch28 06-04-2009 12:14 AM

Guys...it's not that great of a deal because it is a USB 1.1

We're on USB 2.0 right now. USB 1.1 is previous generation use

The speed on this drive is:

5MB read
1.5MB write

You're going to be waiting a long ass time to transfer stuff to/from the USB drive :o

Harvey Specter 06-04-2009 12:29 AM

I'm just using it for mp3's so I can plug this drive in my car so speed isn't a big issue.

it's the initial part when you try to load a couple of gigs onto the drive.

you might as well do it before you sleep because it probably won't be finished by the time you wake up :D

Something just doesn't seem right with that. I can't see why any company would make anything USB 1.1 still.

From this chart, it shows that it has standard transfer speeds:

lol, I usually just add a few songs everyday. I won't be adding gigs of files at one time.

i believe it's a spec error.

cause the name clearly says usb 2.0
and i beleive the original datatraveler's are 2.0...so it wouldnt make sense for their generation 2 line to be 1.1...

i also just googled the drive's read/write speed and apparently it's

(write): 6.27 MB/ s
(read): 12.04 MB/ s
