Some Metro Vancouver restaurants pulling the bait and switch Where's the cod? DNA tests reveal sushi and other seafood sold may not be as advertised Quote:

the 2nd half of the article tells me that since there's so many different types of fish proper labeling would be difficult to achieve however the first half of the article seems like a deliberate swapping of fish Takumi Japanese Restaurant? anyone tried it? any good? ^^ compared to Hojos? |
Oh god. I hope the sweet and sour cat I ordered wasn't *gag* pork. |
This was just on The Fox. Send them a txt telling them what bastard halibut is lol |
the worst is that place that sells catfish as "cod" someplace in white rock. Nasty. |
i always wanted to be a part of the food inspection agency. selling fake LV purses at night market is one thing, but messing with peoples food is going too far. i mean, sure those are edible fishes but if i paid for cod i better get cod, not tofu |

Bon Sushi in Surrey near White Rock sold hake as crabmeat. Speeds Pub in Ladner sold pollock as cod at fish-and-chip. |
isnt this a criminal offence? |
Thank God Moby Dick's isn't on that list. I love that place. If they ever got busted for such a thing, their rep and clientele would go from long line ups to echoes. I thought Coney Island had a decent rep on the WR strip. Guess not any more.!.! |
I wish Canadian journalists would do more investigative reports like this....seems to be more common in the states |
wait this doesn't talk about the crab switching at all those chinese places "ak ching"? |

That sucks. But then again, did anyone notice that even in alaska rolls (where there's supposed to be crab meat), it's usually pollock that's cheaper for imitation? If you're buying sushi from TNT, you deserve to get owned. I don't mind it for the most part at AYCE, as long as it tastes good, and it's well made... but it's when i'm paying for something... it better be what i'm paying for. |
