WTB: 97-01 Prelude

hi everyone,

exploring my options and looking around if there are any good preludes out there

criteria:
-5th generation (97-01) only
-tiptronic (auto) transmission
-must be under ~160k kms
-leather seats
-no rebuilt or salvaged value

i'm not really flexible on any of the above, except maybe the leather seating. Ideally I'd like to spend somewhere in the $7k-10k range, but may be more flexible in a month or so.

Let me know what you've got and how much you're asking!

I've got one... well, actually, my mom drives it now... but it fits the criteria above except no leather. It's a 1997 model. Flamenco Black Pearl, and I know it's well under 160k kms. She's more than happy driving it, so she'd need a really generous offer for her to let the car go. PM me with a general ballpark offer and I'll ask her about it. Too bad yer looking for the car this year, cuz by this time next year, I'd be buying her a new car and she'd definitely sell the prelude.

My question is why do you need to have the auto? They are known to fail and are quite costly to replace. Other than that, I have a very clean 97 prelude in san marino red, but its a 5-spd- PM if you are still interested.

Hi Chucki,

thanks for the info. I learned just recently from another member as well about this common failure and now I'm reconsidering this car entirely :-s

My reason for wanting auto is because I'm not willing to put in the time to learn and I want a car I can drive as easily as possible, no shifting etc. Just a personal preference...I understand why people prefer 5spd, just not for me at this stage.
