UBC Dip. in Acct -VS- Kwantlen Dip. in Acct Hey, Does anyone know if the Kwantlen Accounting diploma is equivalent to the UBC DAP? If it is, I would much rather take that since there's a richmond campus, so I do not have to drive from surrey to richmond for work, richmond to UBC, then ubc back to surrey :( I'm going for a CA after this. |
Bump, anyone know? |
why u taking dip? ca requires a bachelors or are you taking dipl then transfer to finish in a bachelors?...I'm doing something similar but Im transfering to sfu after my dip. |
I have a BA in economics and a minor in bus admin. I need to do the accounting pre reqs for CA |
Doesn't CA need a bachelors in COMMERCE - Business? Not Arts - Economics? I'm asking because I'm going to Kwantlen to do my Accounting Diploma 1st year this September. So after getting our diploma's, we can then use the credentials/marks to transfer into SFU/UBC Commerce? |
He is doing the diploma now because the DAP program is a post grad program, so you have to get a degree first before you do it. Its meant for people who wanted to do accounting but didn't get the chance to in undergrad. Wix have you heard any stories about kwantlen program? I can tell you first hand DAP is fucking INTENSE!!!! |

So if you have a Commerce or Business Admin degree then your killing two birds with one stone since the degree will cover most of the courses required for a CA. But for people like me and wix we got the degree but still lacking some basic courses required by CA so thats where the diploma program comes in. |
So am I somewhat on the right track in getting my diploma then going to SFU/UBC for my undergrad degree? I didn't work hard enough in HS to get my degree first LOL. |
You need any type of bachelors, + the required accounting prereqs for a CA, If u have a BBA in Acct, or a Bcomm in Acct, u may only need to take 1 or 2 prereqs for the CA, or none at all. :O OMG :) Has anyone here done the DAP at Kwantlen? |

^ DAP makes our ECON look like child's play no joke. Maybe I'm just not used to accounting since its been awhile, maybe its being out of school for 4 months, I seriously have no idea. Its an eye opener, but mad respect to those that finished it. QMX232 - Ya I would say your on the right track, go http://www.cica.ca/1/3/4/index1.shtml to see CA requirements. Any degree + the required business courses will start you on your road to a CA. Required coures: intro to financial accounting, managerial accounting, mis, commercial law, intro to finance, intermediate financial pt1 and pt2, advanced financial, cost accounting, aduit, taxation + one more i think i cant remember what it is though at the moment. |
