Brake Caliper Paint - Where to buy?

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

I'm looking for this kit, with the brush. I've used spray can caliper paint before but I'd like to try painting the caliper with a brush instead.

Cdn tire and Lordco didn't have it. Any ideas?

Pretty sure I've seen that at the CT on Grandview

thumper 06-11-2009 11:08 AM

what they said. i was there 2 weeks back and it was there... was seriously giving thought to doing this but i've since decided to bite the bullet and go powdercoat instead.

I've seen the kit at CT, but it was the spray paint one..but that was only at the Richmond CT locations.

I'll head over there and check it out.

thanks

Finally got around to doing it. I couldn't stand the bare metal showing on the caliper so I opted to paint it silver.

how was it cleaning the calipers?

Volvoman 07-17-2009 08:04 AM

Easy. It came with a spray can of this alcohol type substance that I had to spray on. It'd evaporite and the calipers were clean. I wiped it with a dry cloth to get dust and whatnot off but it was really easy.

I have so much paint left over. I didn't even use 5% of it :|

Ahh I see you've already bought it but I went around looking for it as well when I did mine last summer. The Canadian Tire near my house only had yellow. According to their website AND their in-store computers it said they had it in stock, the guys working there just didn't know where it was. Drove to Lordco and they didn't have it so I ended up finding a ton of them at Napa Auto Parts.

Anyways, did your kit come with a paint brush? On the box it says a brush is included as well but mine never came with one. I didn't want to drive back to Napa to see if the other boxes had one so I had to rummage around the house a bit. The masking tape they give you is a pretty shitty quality as well.

Volvoman 07-19-2009 01:20 PM

yeah, it came with a brush, the one you see in the picture. i didn't use the masking tape, i was just really careful around the hoses and the clips on the caliper

Volvo-brickster 07-19-2009 01:38 PM

the brush that dupont gives you is garbage

went to clean it and all the bristles came loose lol

Razr 07-19-2009 08:04 PM

if you had so much paint left you should prolly apply at least 5+ coats

Bath Tussue 07-19-2009 09:44 PM

Apply too much, and it will boil off. At least that's what I have seen first hand.
That guy came back from a 20 minute sesson at Mission raceway.
After he parked his car in the pit, his brakes were smoking. I could see the paint boiling off the caliper.

Volvoman 07-19-2009 10:32 PM

yeah, the instructions said to apply a few coats. I just applied one, and went over it again to cover spots I missed. Looks fine to me after a week of driving.

with that said, anyone want to buy a silver caliper paint set, barely used...lol

radiocrash 07-21-2009 09:39 AM

red is way to go :) silver looks too stock

AVS_Racing 07-24-2009 01:08 AM

hm........... keep me up dated on if the paint comes off haha im thinking of painting red or gold
