What you will do
Under the direction of the Network Supervisor, you will support the effective deployment of telephony and network technology at PBC.
1. You will provide consulting and technical support to all Pacific Blue Cross departments and clients for hardware and software products, both network and telephony.
2. You will assist with maintenance of the IS Technology Architecture document, Business Contingency Plan (network and telephone), network diagrams, and various procedures.
3. You will support the acquisition, installation, and maintenance of software and hardware products and facilities.
4. You will analyze network and telephony facilities and traffic patterns; identifies potential opportunities for improvement.
5. You will maintain current knowledge in network, telelphony and server technology.
What you will bring to PBC
* A minimum of one year in increasingly complex tasks and environments, both network and telephony.
* A minimum of two years post-secondary education and preferably a diploma in Telecommunications Engineering Technology.
* Specialized training courses in interpersonal skills and project management or equivalent knowledge and technical certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, Linux certification.
* Courses in more than one area out of mainframes (VM, VSE, z/OS, CICS, 2216, NCP, etc.); networks (CISCO, IOS, TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls, intrusion detection, network print/fax, security, etc.); telephony technology (Nortel, Octel, VOIP, wireless, etc.); Network Operating Systems (MS-Windows, Linux); and, other desktop/server software.
* Demonstrably strong problem solving and communication skills.
