Places to go cruising???

Its such a nice day today, I want to take my car out for a nice little cruise... Anyone know any good places to go locally??? My main cruise sites are the old marine drive in westvan & heading up to abbotsford and doing a short cruise in the mountains....

ANyone got any other places that i can go to?? Looking for somethign with nice turns and lots of gear shifting especially in 2nd and 3rd..... And locally..

Ive seen a few threads on here and used some of their routes, the only ones I havent done are the priceton routes... Which is soon to be prolly this summer....

Also if you could post google routes that would be awesom

TIA!!!

Stanley park! lol

British properties is fun, but lots of blind corners so it's not particularly safe, not that many cars though, probably don't go there too late, might just run over something,

I hear cypress ain't bad either.

was thinking 2 do the same thing, but cant think of anything else other than stanley park.... hurting :(

Yeah i usually drive stanley park then head to westvan on towards marine drive towards the lighthouse, sometimes i go down towards horse shoe bay city? Where i found a pretty neat park... then usually take the hwy home...

Where is British properties??? I never really understood where it was... Can someone link up a good route around british properties...

It's out in the Abbotsford area.

There are a couple ways you can do this but the way we went was to start East-bound on Clayburn Road and continue until you hit Sumas Mountain Road. Turn left so you're going up the mountain via Upper Sumas Mountain Road. It will eventually turn into a gravel road (which is an awesome route for off-roading, btw). At which point, turn around and just follow it until it turns from Upper Sumas Mountain Road into Sumas Mountain Road. Eventually you'll get to an intersection it meets up with Atkinson Road. Turn right and you'll find yourself on Lower Sumas Mountain Road. This stretch is the absolute cherry of this route. Zero traffic on a near switch-back route on the mountain side. It's a bloody amazing run.

I've got some more routes marked out on my GPS for future exploring this week. Now that it's supposed to be relatively nice (great, I just jinxed it, didn't I?), some of these mountain passes should be pretty dry at night.

I'll keep you all posted with routes when they happen. :)

Ive done this route like 10 times

Pender Harbour towards Ruby lake, one of the best roads ive driven. good pavement, lots of elevation changes and beautiful scenery. Only down side, you have to take ferry out there.

How about something local???

SuperSlowSS 06-12-2009 05:25 PM

bust out your map... you see anything good locally? thats right...all straight roads. Ok maybe 5 turns. I have done my research, pretty much mapped out all the routes here. And I say we all move to cali!! lol

I vote the interior.

Cypress is good. Watch out for construction workers though...if you drive too fast, they'll call the cops and you'll get a roadblock waiting for you and your pack.

That thread that was posted a few up is mostly local routes. Unless you're talking about DT Vancouver, which in that case... you're SOL. You have to head either North to Cypress or beyond or East to Langley and further to find any good roads of any real length.

SuperSlowSS 06-12-2009 11:04 PM

cypress is a joke. I think I can count the number of turns with one hand.
you can try the roads around belcarra and the thermal plant. But those are very short.
I say go to langley.

CivicTypeRice 06-12-2009 11:24 PM

Honyoung 06-12-2009 11:59 PM

FYI always a roadblock after first turn into marine drive from west 4th on fridays just checking for drunk drivers
