Printer Ink Level Reset Stupid new HP printers are smarter now.... Even if you refill the cartridge, the printer remembers its serial number and displays the "ink low error" so the printer becomes unusable. My model is the HP Deskjet F4280 that uses cartridge #60 Anyone know a workaround, hack, etc.??? For some of the older cartridges there was a method of taping off a few of the cartridge contact points but I couldn't find diagrams for #60 |
It doesn't look like there is a reset tool available for the HP 60XL cartridges. I don't use HP's so I don't know if this is available, but I know on the Canon CLI cartridges, you can tell it to ignore the low ink warning (and use a refilled cartridge although you lose the ink monitoring capability). I would guess over time, someone will crack the chip and release a reset tool for it. I only recently got one for my CLI cartridges (it took about 2 years for them to figure it out). It's the price you pay for using inkjets I guess. |
I know someone with a 5610, the printer forgets the serial number after 3 or so cartridges. so you need 3 or 4 on hand to rotate |
