	   | Difference in proteins

I'm looking to get another tub of protein. I've read a little but I still don't know what is best for me. I'm looking for a post-work out protein shake and don't know what would be best. That and what is the difference between all the different types of protein supplements available? For example I see:-Whey Protein Blend
 -Whey Protein Concentrate
 -Whey Protein Isolate
 -Whey Protein Organic
 -Whey Protein Time Released
 -Whey Protein Hydroslate
 -Soy Protein

Whats the difference between all these? How would I know which is best for me?

 Thanks

I'm pretty sure the whey isolate is the best...you can use concentrate if you don't mind downgrading the biological value and taking lactose.
soy protein is shit dude, might as well eat egg and meat.

Whey isolate is expensive long term wise imho, concentrates/blend is typically only 2-4 grams of protein less than isolates (per scoop) and they usually cost way cheaper. Since you're looking for post-workout shake only, concentrate/blend/isolate is the best option to take within an hour of your workout.
This guide should help (a good read): http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/protein_guide.pdf | | | | | 06-16-2009, 10:26 AM | #4 | | My homepage has been set to RS

If you ever go to GNC, Popeyes, etc...ask for their magazine giveaway.
It seems every month they seem to have an article on the different kind of proteins, protein content and ingredients, and what goals to be looking for; well detailed that can stretch through to about 5 pages or so. Good read when you're on the bike.

For post workout, you want to create an insulin spike, with protein and BCAA's in your system (and NO fat). So to do that, a good way is to take a fast absorbing protein (isolate and concentrate - pure isolates are rare and expensive) with a handful of raisins. Even better would be a hydrolysate, but this would taste nasty on its own. So there are post workout supplements like Universal Torrent and Biotest Surge which take hydrolysate, add BCAA's, and a form of carbohydrate to induce an insulin spike (usually glucose and maltodextrin, sometimes waxy corn starch).
I have been taking Torrent for a while, but when I run out I think I'll just switch to a regular ON whey (which is isolate + concentrate) and a handful of raisins and BCAA caps.

Thanks for all the responses. So right now it looks like I'll be looking for whey isolate and concentrate? How would this be?http://www.supplementscanada.com/pop...whey_choc.html
I've heard it taste good which is good for me, I'm not great with drinking bad tasting shakes.

I like Torrent better because they use WMS in place of much of the maltodextrin, and add a shit ton of Leucine.

Skim should be OK if you really don't like using water. The extra sugar probably helps with insulin too. This is if you are going the protein shake/raisins route as opposed to a PWO supplement.. You won't want to mix those in milk (eww!)

Well maybe it's time to change things up a bit
When it comes to body building, nothing should be done "forever"
