Wanting to buy a new suit....

Anyone know if there are any suit sales coming up ??? I am looking to pick up a new one.

I know BR has a sale that starts today...
The Bay has a sale that ends today...

Anywhere else ????

Since the 'summer sale' season has started, I imagine most of the other stores will start marking down stuff, including Harry Rosen (and it's affiliated outlets like Hugo Boss and Zegna) and Holt. And since Brooks Brothers is now in town, maybe they'll have some markdowns to take business away from the rest. Just watch the stores during the next couple of weeks.

On the other hand, if your budget is in the $800-1000 range, you could just pay a visit to Modernize Tailors in Chinatown and have them do a suit for you instead of waiting around for a sale to happen.

Mexx has decent suits and i think they usually have sales around this time for grads.

^ Mexx's having their semi-annual 50% sale starting Sunday I believe. 50% of the regular price for their entire store.

Mexx's semi-annual 50% will start this weekend. If you don't care about materials, fit, and finish, and simply want something that looks decent, you can probably pick up something for $200-300.

Similarly, Zara will start their sale likely later next week.

After buying some of their items i quickly realized what a shit brand Mexx really is. But like you said, its good for something thats just made to look decent.

And with all these 50% off events it really unmasks the quality of materials and workmanship of their items...and their ridiculous markup

I understand why a place like Mexx stays in business, particularly in Vancouver. Most of us aren't overweight, so we can wear slimmer cuts. Where can we get slimmer cuts without breaking the bank?

I have a few made-to-measure items myself (some shirts, a couple of suits) and of course, I'd love all of my stuff to be bespoke or MTM. However, like most of us, I don't have the money to acquire such garments locally, nor do I have the time/money to fly to East Asia to get them made on a regular basis.

But, I disgress. Buy a suit from Mexx and if taken care of, you can wear it sparingly, like weddings, where you will easily fit in with the rest of the crowd who will be wearing similar clothes.

Digging up a somewhat old thread (no pun intended), has anyone tried these guys before? They're apparently based out of Victoria and they advertise "custom made" suits for what looks to be a pretty decent price.

If anyone has tried them, what's their quality like? How did the fitment turn out? (I would think it would be relatively good since it's based off the measurements that you give them).

Check out Hugo Boss at Oakridge, not sure what your budget is but they have a few suits going for under a $1000.
