b7 s4...

Anyone own one? I'm thinking of picking one up from the USA. See a couple of good deals (~25000k CAD).

I've heard audi's have horrible electric problems and I don't want to be stuck with a lemon.

Sounds right but what's the upgrades on the B7 over the B6 S4s?

I always thought it was just a minor facelift, but i'm sure someone on RS can educate me on this area.

My dad owns a 2007 S4 as a daily driver, and so far there hasn't been any problems.

As far as i know there isn't much difference between the B6 and B7. They share the same 4.2L V8, but the B7 has a 40:60 torque split along with minor mechanical tweaks, new springs etc.

At 25 000 that sounds like a good deal.

ilvtofu 06-18-2009 07:47 PM

Yup 25,000 is definitely a good price, as long as theres no frame damage.
I thought the B7 has 30:70 split, i dunno i'm no Audi fanboy. I still like the B6 styling though hasn't gotten old on me yet.

Just beware of the horrible gas mileage, I can't afford it :(
something like 16L/100km? but well for 25,000 i guess it balances out

Meowjin 06-18-2009 08:20 PM

I would get an older one but I like the facelifted one. The front end looks a little more aggresive and I like the spoiler in the rear.

I'm not worried about gas mileage If I pay it with cash.

ilvtofu 06-18-2009 08:26 PM

I like the more germany block-ish front end of the B6,

gas mileage isn't a big deal, lots of dailys get around 12L anyways, a 4-5 L increase/ 100km will cost probably less than 1000 more a year, so it ain't too bad a tradeoff

Meowjin 06-18-2009 08:39 PM

yeah I'm going from TL to this. Or a fiesta. Tough choice :P

Spaceship_coupe 06-18-2009 08:53 PM

That's a sick price! My friend has one and it's been problem free except for the check engine light going on due to his aftermarket downpipes.

ilvtofu 06-18-2009 09:05 PM

Oo fiesta, but thats got like a third of the power!!!

A B7 S4 can't outrun baddies in a mall. ;)

Benz_05TSX 06-19-2009 03:11 AM

That's a very good deal!!

Meowjin 06-19-2009 03:23 AM

I'm going to wait till the fiesta comes first, but I'm sure there will be other deals like this by autumn. And I'm not to to worried. I have lots of cash in USD laying around from some work I did there last year.

It's kinda of a hard prediciment right now. Because the fiesta would be great on fuel and I could siphon my money to other causes.

But I can't ignore 340 hp. I remember when I had my bro's old 01 cobra for a bit. So much fun.

ALSO ON A SIDE NOTE THIS HAS MADE ME HORNY

^seems hard to live with as a daily, but Audi's 4.2 has so many excellent exhausts to choose from!!!
