2009 Engine of the Year .......belongs to PORSCHE's flat six engine! Congradulations!! 1. Porsche 3.8-litre flat six DI (911) 144 2. BMW diesel 3-litre (330d, 730d, 530d, X3, X5) 122 3. BMW 4.4-litre DI Turbo (750i, X6) 120 4. Jaguar 5-litre V8 Supercharged (XF, XK) 112 5. Mercedes-Benz diesel 2.1-litre (BlueEfficiency C-Class, BlueEfficiency E-Class) 107 6. Audi 2-litre four-cylinder TFSI (Audi A4, A5, Q7, VW Scirocco, Golf GTI) 107 Porsche may have saved the naturally aspirated engines from dying out. If BMW continues on this forced induction mad road, I will be changing cars  Great job from the world's most iconic sports coupe! http://www.ukipme.com/engineoftheyea...9/bestnew.html “Porsche's ability to keep improving the flat six powertrain while meeting increasingly tough regulations is very impressive” Dean Slavnich, IEOTYA co-chairman |
no more honda vtech? haha |
don't think there's any new engine from Honda this year. interesting. I thought the Ferrari V8 DI would win it. |
I'm shocked that the 335i's engine wasn't on that list.. BRING OVER THE 330d, I LOVE BMW's NA Inline 6! Or... BRING BACK THE 330i!!! PLEASE!!! |
Damn, if only everyone can afford a nice porsche... |
2. BMW diesel 3-litre (330d, 730d, 530d, X3, X5) 122 This is not offered in Canada, is it? (it's only the 335d and X5 3.5 diesel).. |
Germany FTW Seriously didn't expect that jaguar supercharged V8 to win. This isn't that Ward's engines is it? That one always had the typical -Audi turbo 4 -Nissan VQ -Subaru Turbo Didn't really like those awards cos it was always the same-ish Good post Maxx and i think you're right, they're definitely moving towards forced induction, even smaller cars are going towards it for the fuel economy boost, Has BMW leaked any new N/A engines that are yummy? most of the recent stuff certainly has been turbo -twin turbo 8 and 6, and diesel A solid BMW N/A I6 will always have a place in my heart though, they really need to stop trumping their already excellent N/A engines with these turbos! |
New that audi engine would be in there i love them!! |
way to go porsche. =D |
how come there's only top 6? |

The new M3/5/6/7 are rumored to be all turbo pushing 550-670 hp. :suicide: They'll be brilliant, as always, but not the cars I would buy. My next and possibly final newer BMW will be the Z4 M. The second best M car, BMW has ever made, after the E30 M3 of course. |
Is the new Z4M getting a coupe body, like a fastback style one like the old one with a fixed roof? |
wow all German except Jaguar |
