[QUOTE=adambomb;6478405]The grouse grind is good times! There is always hot women charging up the mountain. :h5: :jiggy:

Almost sounds like it's worth going for the view

55 minutes last week, it's hard to get low times when you weight train a lot, muscle fatigues extremely fast, I'd rather sprint personally

Thinking of heading up there on a weekend, when's the best time to go to avoid all the other grinders?

TRDood 06-28-2009 08:03 PM

just came back.........................................

it was my first time and i just wanted to experience what all others are talking about.

1hr27mins was my time.

i felt that the 1/4 to 1/2 stretch was the worse. the last 3/4 onwards with all the rock climbing was actually okay, except for the last bit with all the wet shit.

will i do it again? maybe...

way2quik 06-28-2009 08:41 PM

today was my ever first Grouse Grind experience.. 1.5 hours was brutal.
I plan to beat that time next time.
But some steps were really above your thigh, so you have to really stretch out that leg.

tegz 06-28-2009 08:44 PM

lol my time slowed down :( 52 mins.

MDMA 06-28-2009 10:16 PM

45 mins for me today, my personal best :D

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Grouse Grinders will have to find another hiking route for the next few days. Metro Vancouver has closed the popular climb up Grouse Mountain due to a dangerous rock fall in the upper sections.

Repair work will be conducted in the next two days, and crews are hoping to have it re-opened by the weekend. People who want to use the route are advised to check the Metro Vancouver website for updates.

^ yea i went around 1pm and it was closed. made the trip all the way from burnaby for no reason.

its a rock slide. they said they should hav eit up on saturday

iEatClams 07-02-2009 11:30 PM

do you guys measure the time from the bottom of the mountain, like near the metal fenced gate by the parking lots, or do you guys measure it from the bridge where it says grouse grind begins?

i start timing it from the bottom near the parking lots. and my time was 65 minutes.

I think if you're a bigger guy - like arnold swarzhenagger (sic) then you'll probably do it in a slower time. So doing it fast doesn't really mean that your any more "fitter".
Cause one can argue that arnold and other bigger athletes are fit, just not the endurance marathon type.

I personally don't want to do it faster because I don't want my legs to get smaller from the cardio.

Was about to leave my house to do the Grind at 2pm. I tell a buddy on MSN I'm about to go and he sends me that link.

Good thing I slept in today!

This thread is awesome because I've always wondered what the Grouse Grind was.

matrixfwd 07-03-2009 03:41 PM

Yes the grind was closed since Thursday when I got there, but we were able to do the alternate trail, it think it's called the BCMC trail and it ends at the same place. I think it's a bit longer than the grind. SO anyone thinking of going this weekend can do the BCMC if the Grind is still closed.

Ch28 07-03-2009 03:59 PM

Grouse Grind has been re-opened.
