Nokia Carbon Arte 8800 for CHEAP: too goo to be true? I know a friend of a friend of mine is selling a carbon arte for CHEAP. I know these things go for over 1k, but he's giving me a wicked price that I can;t refuse. unfortunately, i've heard a lot of smack about fake 8800s, make you can help me out? I asked him to type in *#0000# and this is what came up on his screen: *#0000# Nokia 8800CA V 06.40 18-11-08 RM-233 (c)Nokia Variant: 00.00 Language: V 06.40 18-11-08 RM-233 (c)Nokia v If he presses *#06# IMEI: 358645013323274 IMEISV: 78 and when I enter the IMEI number from This website, this comes up: http://www.nintensity.net/images/Picture5.png He told me it' Made in Finland. However, he says the PC chord is broken (it doesn't detect) for some reason. Which makes me a little worried so I've come to ask you guys. This is what the Nokia forum says: Quote:
Thanks, Nintensity |
some ppl dont really care how much they get back in return.... |
Borrow a working data cable and try it out when you meet with him! |
Someone told me "No 8800 Arte was ever made in Finland.. If not made in Korea, stay away." Is this... true?! Aren't Nokia's usually made in Finland? Can someone confirm that this is true? |
although its not an 8800, ive tried out 2 diff kinds of fake luna's before, and u can tell they're fake just by the software alone, even though exterior is near identical. Have you tried out the arte for yourself yet? saw this somewhere online, dunno if it works tho type in*#2820#(bluetooth code) if it is a real nokia phone it will show info |
yeah, i'll test it out tomorrow.. i'll keep you guys updated ;) |
let us know if he has more ;) |

i think i saw this on cl...its the one for $250 isn't it..kinda fishy |
I met the guy on Sunday. It was fake, and I didn't buy it. The first thing you should always try are the codes. Bluetooth code: *#2820# Reset code: *#7780# If none of those work on a S40/S60 device nokia, then get the fuck outtaa there!! The next thing I also noticed was that the text-size font was relatively small than the most S40 Nokias out there. I took a picture of some screencaps over at GSMarena before I left and simply compared the two while I met the guy. They didn't match. The next thing I also noticed was that under "settings > connectivity, there was only ONE option - "bluetooth" how about headset? how about PC suite? It didn't make sense to me. However, the quality of the phone was next to incredible. The slider felt smooth... felt so.... real... but you know replicas these days ;) |
