Website that lists cost suppliers pay for cameras?

My friend works at London Drugs and gets their electronics at cost plus 5% so I was wondering how I could find that the cost they pay for cameras and lenses alike?

Is their a website by any chance?

None that I know of.

just use photoprice.ca
and they don't get cost + 5% on all electronics. audio video stuff.
standard electronic discount is 10%. Your friend is pulling your leg.

Of course, manufactures sometimes extend direct order discounts for employees, and that's a different story.

The mark-up on cameras and lenses is only about 10%-12%, so it's not much. Epson & Canon printers and inks are even worse, at around 6%.

Paolo is right, some suppliers will give employee discounts of up to 15%.

Well then it could be argued that he gets it at cost plus 5%, which could be roughly the same as 10%-12% off.

it depends. Sometimes Canon gets us really good staff discounts and same with Nikon and other brands. No one's going to tell you this because it's confidential.

PS: If he's getting cost +5% (depending on the model) at LD then he's getting ripped off.

There are several different discounts.

Like if a manufacturer offers you a product at a substantial discount just to help pump their brand out the door. A certain camera brand did something like this a few months ago... Not gonna say who.

IMHO, giving away a staff discount to a friend is just stupid. It's given to them as a privilege and a benefit for being one of the last people you deal with in a consumer sale. I understand he's just trying to help you out, but it's a waste tossing discounts around like they're a god given right.

Paolo, where do you work? Yes, that was a kick ass price for the EXR. I wish I had bought one. :(

I work at a Canadian run store who's favourite color is blue.

My co-worker got one through that EPP, while it was an awesome price, I couldn't come up with the funds as I had just bought a D300 + 24-70 haha.

I've been thinking about applying to some smaller shops actually, more specific to camera equipment sales than the electronics section.

Is that the regional rep?
