also Taxis in Hong Kong have steering column mounted shifter and a bench seat so you can quite easily drive a taxi from the passenger side hahhaha.

oic... i'm also surprised that the car was left running. also surprised at how fast a tv crew was on the scene. there wasn't even a chance for all of the injured to be taken out of the cars and they were already filming.

do HK taxis have seatbelts? it's been 10 years for me but i don't recall seeing seatbelts in the back seat

weird... just googled again and more info on this guy: he has been living in the US for the last few years and hasn't been back to australia, but travels under an aussie passport, and his parents live in HK, which is why they were present the day after the accident when they charged him with murder

it's strange how aussie news reports post their info... they keep on saying "allegedly", such as "allegedly drove off in the taxi" despite the fact they have a vidclip of him clearly driving away.

no man the car just drove away on its own he was just in it for the ride

@thumper yes they have introduced seatbelts a while ago and it's mandatory that the passengers in the rear wear them now (even taxis in NY don't ask you to do that these days, HK people are progressive in that sense) Seatbelts kept those 2 c9s in the taxi that came later unharmed. Imagine a head on collision with no seatbelt they'd be out the windscreen for sure.

a crown comfort taxi version has 6 seatbelts on board.

he hasn't been convicted of anything and he's innocent before proven guilty.... so yes its 'allegedly' until then. crazy huh?
