OBD2 Readiness Monitors/Aircare

Hey guys,

Well as some of you may or may not know, the E39 M5 are succeptable to carbon build up issues in the secondary air flow system. I have since addressed the carbon build up, but i am having an incredibly hard time resetting all the readiness monitors. Ive done like 500+KMS and like 6 cold starts, ive tried all these driving procedures.

So far, the Catalyst, Oxygen Sensor, Secondary air, Evap monitors have not set themselves, while the Heated Oxygen circuit, EGR, AC refrig and heated catalyst have set.

I have no codes present, ive replaced all spark plugs with NGK Iridiums, new MAF sensors, Cam sensors, pre-cat Oxygen sensors, Oil seperators, oil seperator hoses, air filters.

car runs great otherwise, but it sucks, not being able to set the readiness monitors i am unable to even go thru aircare because i just get rejected. They wont even test me.

Is there anyone who works at aircare who can point me in the right direction? I figure you guys see this type of stuff all the time, maybe you know some tricks to help speed up the process to get these stupid readiness monitors to set?

thanks in advance!

have you done this already?

Quote:

1. Engine cold start, idling, approximately 3 minutes. Evaluated:

• Secondary Air System
• Evaporative Leak Detection (LDP Equipped Vehicles)

2. Constant driving at 20 to 30 MPH, approximately 4 minutes. Evaluated:

• Oxygen Sensors - Achieved “Closed Loop” Operation
• Oxygen Sensors - Response Time and Switching Time (Control Frequency)

3. Constant driving at 40 to 60 MPH, approximately 15 minutes (sufficient vehicle coast
ing phases included). Evaluated:

• Catalytic Converter Efficiency
• Oxygen Sensors - Response Time and Switching Time (Control Frequency)

4. Engine idling, approximately 5 minutes. Evaluated:

• Tank-Leak Diagnosis (DM TL Equipped Vehicles after KL 15 is switched OFF)

NOTE: The diagnostic sequence illustrated above will be interrupted if:

• The engine speed exceeds 3000 RPM.
• Large fluctuations in the accelerator pedal position.
• The driving speed exceeds 60 MPH.

Looks like it could be my ECU. There were a couple people in the states with the same problem after the reflash. I tried the driving procedure but nothing helped.

Thanks for the help anyways.

Yep it was my PC Reflash. Turns out they turned off my rear o2 sensors for some reason. Perhaps the reflash went wrong.

Made it thru, thanks guys!
